~Color of the Year~

I had the time to participate in another blog hop!
I love making earrings and they work with my short attention span. hahahaha. Rarely can I make something that takes more than a few minutes as I'm a total "squirrel" person!

I love to collect, and love to create so here we go again.

I used the untraditional color suggestions as seen here:

I picked some yummies out of the bead boxes and away I went.
These earring sport porcelain drops in grays from the lovely Petra of scorchedearthonetsy , blue and maroon glass beads, brass bead caps and copper ear wires. They can be found in my shop darlicioushouse. Enjoy the hop!

~firefly

Earrings Everyday posted a little firefly challenge and here are the finished pieces thus far on their reveal post. I'll be adding too as I love a little challenge ~
So I made nighttime rendition of fireflies!
All torch enameled recycled copper scrap with buggin' decals.
I use copper from old viga covers so truly recycled earrings but this time, I just grabbed my scrap and went with their random sizes. As a result, one was much longer than the other so I added a little chain with a ceramic bead to the shorter of the two.
These are truly asymmetrical and can be found here with my other enameled
jewelry, and artisan components for you to makeymake with.
Happy creating!

some new designs~

i love my antique & vintage shell buttons! years ago (like 10, wow!) i would cut old rusty cans found in the arroyo dumps & flatten the metal, file the edges & weave shell buttons onto the slices creating earrings that sold like hotcakes. then i started teaching & left that world behind. the other day though, i took my old idea & put it forth with enameled bottle caps.
i added some chain & there you have it. then...
i took the whole caps that i make as components & wove some shell buttons onto them.
the backs have little nipples made from hematite beads wrapped with the copper wire. i love the backs!
purple babes
hanging backs.

~newbie

many months ago, as a newbie to the national boards, i waffled back and forth on what to do with crafting jewelry and my shop. open.close.open.close.destash.quit. as i became more in-tune with the process and figured out the scope of the project, i realized i was simply unsure how crafting would fit into my new life (working a ton beyond my existing workload) yet it never really left, did it? no siree. i even find now that, as i ruminate over passages and lesson plans and video taping and how to reach my students, i go putter while i process. it works! not only can i create and play, but doing just a little something every day has had a rewarding effect. you all didn't believe i could stop and you were soooo right! i just needed to find the fit. so whether i'm packaging a sale, making something new or uploading something i've never listed before, i am still in the national boards mindset. thinking.thinking.thinking. i spend so much time thinking and doing and creating and being. it's exciting to say the least. today i've listed a choker i made before the recycled art show. it's great with a plunging neckline! xoxo

~awaiting surgery

my husband is having a skin graft today. a bit nervous. he'll be laid up for a week with a vacuum and splint on his leg then more time for complete recovery. so, while i'm waiting for the app. i made some earrings and posted them everywhere! lol.
fun. fun.

26 May 2013

school is officially out for the summer though i will be teaching summer school and so look forward to it! i get to meet and work with many of next year's students, so i'll get a sense of how they work and who they are before the beginning of the school year. for a teacher, that's the coolest eva! any who, i'll be working with the new firsts and seconds.
so field day was energetic and wet. the kids had so much fun! and then we waved them all good by. one student yelled from the bus, ~i hate all of you~. poor thing. so much hate. she had a rough year.
so i'm a bit lost this weekend without school work to do, so i started sorting through the Board Certification write ups. wow! i'm gonna be working long hours and enjoying every minutes of it. i'm such a geek when it comes to my profession as i have just as many aha! moments as my students and love, love, love it! the Boards are coined as the best professional development a teacher could ever get, and i'm up to my neck with enthusiasm for this PD.
well, got some time on my hands so i made some earrings and went to a party, went out to celebrate the ending of a fabulous year, heading out for a mountain bike ride and planning my babies 10th birthday tomorrow! water balloons are in the mix with a big fruit salad. his sister is making him a mine craft lemon blueberry cake. fun, fun all around this weekend. oh sure, i'll get in the house cleaning and laundry, but mostly fun! hope yours is as well. cheers!

all for sale at my etsy. xoxo

thrift

who doesn't love a thrift store? i find so many wonderful creative components there! i recently dropped thirty dollars on a grab bag of jewelry. just random stuff. got it home, dumped it out and found 20 pr. of earrings, mostly silver. score. the cool part is i donated them to my eighth graders bingo fundraiser. yay. then i found all this great chain, also mostly silver. more score. then i sorted it all into yuck and yum. i kept the yum and re-donated the yuck ('cause my yuck is someones else's yum). so much random discarded jewelry! solo earrings became beads (just use round pliers and roll the ear wire or post into a circle) then i just created one fun neckpiece with some of the chain and few of my olden time beads.

here is buddha, sitting pretty with a glass chili pepper, green clay beads, pipe stone, glass trade bead, shell button, lapis, some stone chips and a few faux pearls. true yum!
