~playing with recycled copper and enamels

i've been playing around with a new type of gas ~propane~ and throwing in all of the enamels. i like how it's going but such a departure from the bottle caps. no longer limited by shape.

i gave away all of my jewelers equipment years ago, so now i need to get a sawing block again as right now i just snipsnipsnip and pound. sawing could liven things up a bit. but i like the organic nature of the snips.

today i play with drill bits and letting the light shine through.

almost out of my enamel sample shipment from two years ago and would like some new colors not found in the sample kit. i'm really liking the look of layering over the white. i recently purchased etching solution and i've etched a pair. ~scream~ is etched. if i etch the lighter colors, i could get out my crayon and draw!

sooo, i've got the powder, liquid and crayon to play with. such fun. who'd a thunk i'd love this but recycling is key. i must retain a recycled element to continue in the shows i love to participate in. i dig that i live near a junk yard where i can get my copper. scored a ton of flashing and wire. it'll keep me going for a long time!

i have two shows coming up soon. a festival in Albuquerque at La Parada Farm to Table called the Kenny Chavez Tenth Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival. and then Reuse-apalooza in Santa Fe. a carnival!

i'd like to find some lovely summer shows, but golly, the prices are so high and i need a booth shot, so, i sketched up how i could gussy up the booth, went through all my cloths and display items then settled on white and black with turquoise tulle as a trim. then i can get that shot i need at one of the shows. hope it looks good! so much fun peeps!

i love that my husband supports me. he made weights for my canopy, a really nice one we scored at half price from a canopy shop. it has worked so well in the elements since we bought it years ago.

he loads the vehicle, unloads it with me, helps me set up then it's off on an all day bike ride while i sellsellsell. winwin all around.

in the end, it's about community and spirited fun. have a happy creative day all! xoxo

because i can't help myself~

i feel like my kids when they clean their rooms. they could just go in and get the job done, but everything they find they play with or read, it's so cute and a wonder as they rediscover their stuff...i'm doing the same. as i'm cleaning my studio and destashing, i'm also finding ways to create and items to create with. golly, i even bought some wonderful yummies from kim and petra that will be mine. can't help myself! good thing i'm on break and can take some time for me. xoxo

Stella-hand formed copper and creamy faceted vintage bead neck chain with creamy sari silk. old cookie tin and bottle cap. thimble. glass crystal bead from days gone by.

inspiration and goodies~

i was thinking last night about all of the lovely little bits that inspire me and make me smile. all because i scored some porcelain doll arms for pennies and immediately went to work.
today i decided to share some of those bits that inspire. funny though, how wandering around and looking at all my humble little collection spots and then looking around my house simply reminded  me that i surround myself with what inspires and makes me smile. ~my family, the screaming angel on the wall, the storyteller, my sewing machine, a bowl of raspberries fresh from the garden, the bees in the bee balm...all sources of inspiration and feel goods. but i'm gonna share anyway, even though i was reminded that we all surround ourselves with what makes us feel good and if we don't, maybe we should rethink.

ah, a collection of purple bottles. many of them i found on hikes and some i purchased because they are so cool! they started out clear and turned purple as they were exposed to the sun. here in the southwest, they turn fast. i moved here with an old clear glass fishing buoy and set it on top of my trailer. within a  year it was purple yet had stayed clear bopping in the water for years on the east coast.

a collection of neutrals from trades with other lovelies. what to do, what to do...

my fav beads. old antique glass and steel. found them  at a funky shop and bought all there was as they were selling for a steal. the glass ones have teenie holes though so difficult to string yet with patience, the end result is worth the strain on the old eyes.

BIKE PARTS!

my foredom.  i can grind, drill, polish, roughen up and do just about anything to any type of material. indispensable and always cause for inspiration. remember ~glass, stone and shell should be drilled under water for safety and the old lubrication reason.

an old tin full of stuff.

an old tin full of lace.

another old tin full of junkly funk to challenge me. i recently decided to go all neutral, which leaves much of my stash sitting, but these can come out to play. i think soon i will reconsider the neutral theme.

some buttons. mop mostly.  found them in the recesses of a cabinet. didn't know i had them! sheesh.

random adornment.

my husband is a landscaper and often comes home with bits of broken glass for me. these are purples and blues. i tumble them with sand and water then drill. fun, fun.

random bits

our bikes. always a source of grins and inspiration. they take us anywhere and i often find cool bits out on bike rides that i wouldn't have found otherwise.

 mixed media inspires.
and that's all for now. a little tour of goodies from one creator to another. i love looking at what people stash, the creation process and the finished product. keep it coming ladies.
cheers!

~welcome new work of 2012~

i spent new years alone. all the family was away. i celebrated with chocolate cake and coffee. weee, i was up till 1 as a result and up again at 4. no more coffee at night for me! made me watch terrible tv as a result. so, there's a new years resolution i didn't know i had in me. lol. well, i've been mending things these days so i decided that today was a fabric day. i had some found and grab baggy items on my bench which ended up lending themselves well to these chokers. fun~
