so i started breaking down some biker chain right away (left photo) as i knew bike would be involved. i then tumbled the links to get off the grease and gunk.
i put the chain in a barrel tumbler and they came out all nice and shiny like this:
and my fingers get all like this while going through the process:
i went ahead and used my foredom to spruce up the bike parts as some of them had spots after the tumbling. see them?!
i laid out a design that used all the beads.
then i wrapped and decorated the largest of the two focals and kinda liked it.
but then! i did this instead. took off all the pearls and made a simple necklace with the bike parts, sterling silver rings, the largest focal point bead in a mossy green and a wonderful pearl and sterling clasp (scored at the recent bead expo here in santa fe).
another view:
and yet another. :)
so, i decided to use the clasp and other focal bead in a bracelet here by pairing them up with a brass bell, brass skeleton key and creamy sari silk:
and another view:
and the little pearls in a pair of earrings. all copper, hand forged, yummy!
and here they are again:
i've gotton many sweet comments on the pieces and adore the earrings.
i have decided to keep the them, yet the neckpiece and bracelet are for sale. check my new esty destash shop darliciousdestash for them as i am closing my regular etsy shop, so don't look there BUT do go here (there) for halfoffeverything (coupon code at checkout) to help me with my national boards.
you have now witnessed the end of a journey that was so much fun and challenging. i'm glad i came up with three fun items instead of the one as i had planned. i think i like my new end results better!
cheers and have fun blog hopping! and thanks hannah! and lori!
links to the other blogs participating on this reveal date. enjoy!
