~July Art Bead Scene Challenge

Tiger in a Tropical Storm by Henri Rousseau was the inspiration for July.
I liked the colors and did my best to grab some of them and create a
lovely torch enameled pendant on recycled copper.
Dangles by RaggedRobyn compliment the look with colors also found in the painting.
Just a perfect pairing!

The complete listing can be found in my shop which is 75% off this month as is darlicioushouse. Use the coupon code gottago at check out in either shop.
As school starts up with new roles and responsibilities, I am liquidating as I simply do not have time to create, maintain shops or do shows.
My focus will be a few items here and there and then donating to silent auctions. xoxo
Enjoy your day!

We're All Ears :: July Inspiration :: Visual Music :: My Take

I have been participating in many a fun challenge this summer. It's a great distraction from the Dossier process and gives me that mental health break that I need.
This month, over at Earrings Everyday the July inspiration is visual music.
See the original post here. What fun!

I was so inspired, and found the following video to be my springboard::

I started with some recycled copper that I counter enameled::

Then I moved onto making stencils from screen shots of the video::
I then laid on the enamels and torched them up!
Back in my clean space, I gussied them up with some marker strokes that were present in the visuals then gave them some super long hand-formed copper earwires to match the scheme::

In the end, I added some gold leaf and viola! My inspirations::

But then, in true Darlene fashion,I removed the black lines and like them so much better!

Have a wonderful day all! xoxo

~June Art Bead Scene Challenge

I did it again. Because it's fun. And because I can.
Because I'm working from home this summer. Because I have more time.

I love the interactions and inspiration. The camaraderie that is felt during these challenges from Art Bead Scene Blog and the June challenge was so thoughtful! You can find it here.

I went ahead and created a few enameled pieces by torch firing recycled copper bits in hues that I felt complimented the art. I used skunk berry leaves (a type of sumac) to make the impressions. Then added a few poly beads by shipwreckdandy to the wrapped stems.

Fun. Fun. Fun. Here's the art work. Just lovely. Read all about it in the link above. xoxo

~firefly

Earrings Everyday posted a little firefly challenge and here are the finished pieces thus far on their reveal post. I'll be adding too as I love a little challenge ~
So I made nighttime rendition of fireflies!
All torch enameled recycled copper scrap with buggin' decals.
I use copper from old viga covers so truly recycled earrings but this time, I just grabbed my scrap and went with their random sizes. As a result, one was much longer than the other so I added a little chain with a ceramic bead to the shorter of the two.
These are truly asymmetrical and can be found here with my other enameled
jewelry, and artisan components for you to makeymake with.
Happy creating!
xoxo

~bugs, bikes and botanicals

torch enameled yumminess on recycled copper. we found some old copper cornice pieces at the junk yard and i was able to clean em up and create! most of these pices can be found in my etsy shop.
most are torch fired decals over botanical impressions and one is even a comet cleaner cap!

as i enter the last few months of my masters's program, i am taking the time off from creating and writing, writing, writing in a formal apa format which i'm not paying attention to that here! lol
no formatting but someday, maybe i'll grow up!

~i've moved!

today I made a huge leap. i had purchased a domain a bit ago and today i moved one of my etsy shops, and some items from the other, over to this new space. please give me feedback not only on my design, should you choose, but your interactions with indiemade. i had noticed that some lovely peeps that i follow on facebook (where you can find my page) also use indiemade as their website, blog, etc. so, that begs another question. do i move my blog as well? give me thoughts please! kindness and sharing rule, and i trust your opinions. xoxo
